Overview

This is a translation of al-Ghazali’s well-known work of the same name.

Authorship

Date of completion unknown, but it seems to fit well within Shaykh Daud al-Fatani’s Sufi period, 1817-34, and especially during his period of interest in al-Ghazali in the mid 1820s. He completed a translation of another of al-Ghazali’s works, Minhaj al-‘Abidin, in 1825, thus I have dated it to approximately 1826.

Manuscripts

This text never gained any popularity in the Patani knowledge network and was never printed in the early publishing centers that published others of Shaykh Daud al-Fatani’s corpus.
