Biographical Details: b. Juma, 5 Rajab 1287 AH [1 Oct 1870 CE], in Kota Bharu. He was the oldest child of Tuan Tabal. He traveled to Mecca three times, first in 1298/1881 with his father, at which time he remained for a few years before going back. He returned to Mecca in 1305/1888 to pursue more serious study, and again in 1311/1894. He married the daughter of Tok Qadhi Haji Muhammad To’ b. Abu Bakar. He became Imam Muda at Masjid Kayu (Masjid Besar), in Kota Bharu, 15 Jumada al-akhir 1314 AH (teaching al-Qur’an), succeeding Haji ‘Abd al-Samad Kampung Laut and later became Imam Tua, succeeding Haji Nik Wan Da’ud. He continued his father’s work at Pondok Tuan Tabal in Surau Tuan Tabal, Lorong Tok Semian, Kota Bharu. He was appointed 4th Mufti of Kelantan 21 Aug 1916, a position he held until his death. He was an early member of the Majlis Ugama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Kelantan. d. Selasa, 7 Dec 1920.
