Biographical Details: b. c. 1869, Mecca, d. 8:00 am Khamis, 27 Apr 1961, at the age of 92. His father was from Patani and was a teacher of al-Quran in Mecca, where he drew students from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Patani. After spending some years in Mecca, he returned to the peninsula and settled in British Malaya, c. 1921. He was involved with UMNO at an early date and was later made mufti of Kedah. He had a son named Datuk Haji Ahmad Badawi.
