Biographical Details: He was the oldest of 5 children. His mother’s name was Khadiyah. His father, also known as Lebai Muhammad or Tuan Betek, came from Kampung Sena Janjar, Patani (the same kampung where Shaykh Ahmad b. Muhammad Zayn al-Fatani was born). His father came to Kelantan with 47 other people and opened a clearing in the forest (cerang) in mukim Peringat, Kota Bharu. d. 13 Muharram 1304/12 Oct 1886, in Peringat, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

After his initial studies in Kelantan, he went to Mecca to continue his education. After returning, he taught at Peringat. Later, he returned to Mecca so that his children could also study Islam there.
